ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the transnational context in which the practice of transnational planning is evolving and explores transnational planning through a categorization of levels, agents, and sub-fi elds of planning. It then includes a more in-depth analysis of three case studies where a transnational approach to planning has a fundamental bearing on localized placemaking practices in the cities of Curitiba, Brazil and Los Angeles, US.
