ABSTRACT

Codes of ethics guide professionals in their behavior and define what is appropriate in practice. All health professions have codes of ethics. Those for the occupational health professions characterize their relationship with the employer, the workers they protect, and society as a whole. These codes of ethics are fundamental to good practice and place an obligation on the occupational health professional to practice in a manner that is respectful of others, appropriate to their role and training, protective of workers’ rights, and helpful to progress in the field.
