ABSTRACT
Among dozens of serious, protracted conflicts in the post-Cold War global system, former Yugoslavia and Iraq have attracted major attention in politics as well as media. While severe in human terms, other conflicts and wars have harvested many more deaths and wounded people, these two stand out because of their significant impact on the global society.
