ABSTRACT
Introduction What are the basic identity markers of the Buddhist tradition? First and foremost, people who hold the beliefs and engage in practices founded on the doctrines of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, identify themselves as bauddhas. They know the South Asian region, following the traditional cultural nomenclature found in the classical Buddhist texts, as the Jambudvipa. All bauddhas view the Jambudvipa` # Q faith is indigenous to this region.
