ABSTRACT
The view that the focus of the school curriculum should be on human development is one of several ideologies in the age-old education debate. It is important that it be seen as such, and not as the intellectual aberration that its opponents would have us believe it to be. Similarly, the alternative views of education and curriculum proposed by those opponents must be recognised-and analysed-as ideological.
