ABSTRACT

This case study is about a heritage property that is entering into a professional partnership with a well known branded hotel. Traditional heritage properties in India have been targets of bigger firms for either a takeover or a management agreement to run them as professionally managed hotels. The case study gives an insight into the financial condition of a hotel property entering into a relationship with a larger brand. The challenge is to either survive and sustain one’s existence a stand-alone unit, or become a part of another brand and enhance longevity. The names of the hotels used have been disguised to ensure confidentiality. The case study demonstrates and encourages the risk from a perspective of business, financial, and ownership in the long run.
