ABSTRACT

The rapidly evolving interfaces and overlays (i.e., MetaLib, EnCompass, WebFeat, etc.) and linking technologies (OpenURL applications such as SFX) create new possibilities that demand new access mechanisms and policies. New infrastructures will need to address the underlying complexities of accessing newly "unbundled" materials. These new systems must support entirely new technical and cost model concerns. The newly designed services should both enhance the current delivery options and satisfy the changing demands for a radically new scholarly communications network.
