ABSTRACT
The Fundamental Digital Library of Russian Literature and Folklore (FEB-web) is the first major academic library on the Internet to specialize in Russian folklore and literature of the tenth to twentieth centuries, satisfying an urgent scholarly and public need for editorially-reliable, bibliographically-documented texts and the tools for studying them.1 FEB-web is a digital, multi-functional, full-text information system with advanced analytical instrumentation. This system is geared toward the compilation, preservation, and dissemination of Russian verbal art, as well as the scholarly, bibliographical, and other works needed to understand it. In addition, FEB-web is designed to provide the user with a set of technical tools for the analysis of its holdings. FEB-web is a totally non-commercial enterprise, making the canon of Russian literature available, free of charge, to anyone with Internet access.
