ABSTRACT
THERE is no difficulty in identifying the language which Koelle calls Pulo:, or in confirming the diverse origins of his four informants. The Fula entries are primarily of interest for the linguistic information itself, and for any general conclusions that can be drawn from it about the reliability and accuracy of Koelle's material and about the amount of diversity to be found in widely-scattered dialects of what is clearly a single language.
