ABSTRACT

In this chapter I introduce a new approach to curriculum and assessment in the arts, called ARTS PROPEL. While a number of the features of ARTS PROPEL are shared with other contemporary initiatives, the approach differs both in terms of its intellectual origins and its particular mix of components. Thus the current chapter also serves as an introduction to the general approach to arts education devised over the past decades at Harvard Project Zero and to a particular form it has currently assumed in the practical arena.
