ABSTRACT

Tourism seems to be one of those industries that is always under political review (Kerr, Barron & Wood, 2001; Lederer, 2004; Smith, 1998). In fact, if there is a problem, politicians always seem to want to review it. Such reviews tend to be more of the same, where nothing really changes. The effect of such reviews on policy makers and stakeholders in the industry, means they tend to concentrate on now or the short-term rather than dealing with the long-term view and the uncertainties of the future.
