ABSTRACT
The environmental movement has boosted awareness of the importance of natural resources for tourism development and business. Indeed, natural attractions (and cultural and social ones) are some of the main reasons for travelling. Most tourism is somehow connected to natural features like water, beaches, snow, forests, landscapes, caves, and flora and fauna, as well as to socio-cultural attractions such as ancient civilizations, and endogenous people. At the same time, the rapid growth of tourism has resulted in significant negative natural and sociocultural impacts.
