ABSTRACT
Wireless sensor network technology has fundamentally transformed our capacity to monitor the physical world. Perhaps the most significant result of this transformation has been the discovery of a new frontier of application possibilities. Sensor networks are already changing the way we manage our water, maintain our public infrastructure, and safeguard our borders. This is just the beginning. Sensor network technology has just begun to breach the public market. Exciting opportunities—and applications—lie ahead.
