ABSTRACT

The current healthcare environment in the United States is changing dramatically and competition is severe. These changes are driven by various dynamics, including healthcare reform under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, the overall move to specialization, the goal of improving the quality of care while reducing or avoiding costs, and improving patient satisfaction as consumerism becomes an area of focus. The approach to addressing the required changes must be driven by process and workflow changes, with technology solutions being the enabler of change.
