ABSTRACT
The wider availability of mobile phones beginning late 1990s and their transformation into powerful smartphones over the past few years led to a large number of applications being developed in diverse areas such as agriculture, transportation, and e-governance, to name a few. Healthcare is one such area which has the potential to benefit from deploying smartphone platforms for both diagnostics and consultation. In this chapter, we focus on smartphone platforms and their role in providing mobile healthcare.
