ABSTRACT

Although egg transfer was first successfully performed in the last century, 1 the technique attracted relatively little attention prior to 1950, and, as a result, probably in excess of 95% of the published work in this field has appeared in the last 30 years. Inevitably, therefore, any survey will be concerned with very recent times. Nevertheless, such has been the pace of events that even quite recent findings have already assumed a degree of historical perspective.
