ABSTRACT
It sounds astonishing to talk about myths in a world dominated by natural science and rationality, and it is even more astonishing that this should happen in the transport-engineering and urban planning world. In human history myths were always appearing when society was not able to understand or explain phenomena in the surrounding environment. For thousands of years these myths were related to natural phenomena from our universe and our natural environment. When natural science began to discover and explain the mechanisms behind these visible phenomena, these kind of myths disappeared.
