ABSTRACT
Palliative care means that we are moving beyond cure into an area of increasing uncertainty, which as physicians we can find uncomfortable or difficult to deal with. With so many advances in treatment, we continue to see that many patients live longer with their conditions. It is advisable to discuss end-of-life wishes, living with uncertainty and the concerns surrounding possible sudden death with all patients who are diagnosed with a terminal illness.
