ABSTRACT

Understanding the interactions among different components of the Earth's physical system and the influence of human activities on the environment has progressed immensely; however, the climatic impacts of increasing greenhouse gases (GHGs) are still quite uncertain (Jones, 2000). The most detailed atmosphereocean general circulation models (AOGCMs) differ in the predicted climate change for a given increase in GHGs (Murphy et al., 2004; Stainforth et al., 2005). This large uncertainty introduced in projecting the future climate is further confounded by uncertainty in the impact assessment using impact models such as hydrological or crop simulation models (Wilby, 2005; Challinor et al., 2009; Hawkins and Sutton, 2009; Osborne et al., 2013).
