ABSTRACT
Groundwater is the most important resource for human-kind. Keeping view of this, the hydro logical decade has been celebrated internationally from the year 1965 to 1974, which aimed at hydrological education and research, development of analytical techniques, and collection of hydrological information. During the last four decades, a lot of new techniques have been developed to understand the assessment, utilization, and management of water resources. This chapter aims at understanding the possible development in locating groundwater as well as its quality studies and also targeting the sources of groundwater contamination and their remedial measures.
