Natural wound healing is a highly complicated process that consists of several timed stages of cell signaling, migration, and proliferation. It is difficult to divide the wound healing process into distinct phases since several of these phases overlap. However, there is a general consensus that wound healing can be subdivided into four major phases [1–3].
