ABSTRACT

A suitable blade angle could not only reduce ulna deviation to avoid wrist injury, but can also enhance the sports performance of fencing. Improperly designed hand tools devices have many undesired injuries and accidents. This study found that angle of 18 and 21 provides the best performance in fencing. The results are useful for the man-machine design of fencing and other sports equipments. We suggest that academic circles and ergonomics specialist have to pay more attention to the growing trend in sports industry - especially in sports performance and sports injury.
