ABSTRACT
The Mycota is one of the taxonomic kingdoms of life, and all members of the kingdom share a set of characteristics that separates them from the other kingdoms. Genomic evidence shows that this kingdom has a closer evolutionary relationship to the animal kingdom than to any other eukaryotic kingdom, which is a factor with clinical implications that will be addressed later in this chapter [1–4].
