ABSTRACT
The first CRC series chapter on Chlamydia was written by Leslie A. Page and published in 1989. Since then, significant advances in Chlamydiae diagnostics, genomics, pharmacotherapeutics, classification of new species, and bioinformatics have come to light. This chapter provides a review of our current understanding of Chlamydiia, while addressing how its classification has evolved to date.
