ABSTRACT

Selenium (Se) is an important trace element in the ecological and biological environment (Dai et al. 1995). The abundance of Se in the diet is closely related to human health characteristics (Zhao et al. 2005). The diet is the main source of Se intake for humans (Zhang 2017). While foliar application of Se fertilizer is not a common practice for production of Se-enriched tea, it is important to determine whether the application of Se fertilizer to the soil can effectively increase the Se content in tea leaves, and, consequently, in tea beverage.
