ABSTRACT
Because materials are an integral part of technological development, the study of Materials offers great opportunities for advancements. Many approaches promote such development, spanning the range from very fundamental understanding of the chemical composition and bonding in a material to the implementation of viable processing routes to make high-quality materials efficiently and at acceptable cost. Within this realm is a fascinating world that includes the study of the structure of materials and the connections between materials processing and structure on one hand and between the structure of materials and their properties on the other.
