Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) has become the core topology in high voltage and high power occasion. Expanding the voltage output range of the MMC rectifier will further to broaden the application area of the MMC. Existing MMC rectifier control methods have many disadvantages, such as complex control structures and the need for a large number of PI regulators. To overcome those shortcomings, this paper proposed a new control strategy for MMC Rectifier with Wide Range Voltage Output. The proposed control method avoids the use of a large number of PI regulators, greatly simplifying the control structure of the system. By building up an MMC rectifier model in Matlab/Simulink, the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed control strategy are verified.
