ABSTRACT
Solids found in natural waters are clays, fecal material of human and animal origin, and biological life forms such as bacteria, algae, and protozoa. Clays and organic colloids in water can adsorb a variety of bacteria and viruses and can serve to concentrate, protect, and transport them in the aquatic environment.
