ABSTRACT

There has been a significant rise in the study and application of social network (SN). They are widespread in the areas of anthropology, social psychology, human behaviour, computational and data science, and business and management studies. In project management (PM) literature, however, and more so in practice, the study of SNs and its application in the management of projects is still relatively scant, if not in its infancy, but growing. Figure 18.1 shows the number of articles found with the term “social network” in its title and abstract in the International Journal of Project Management, a leading journal in the field. It can be seen in the figure that from 2010 to 2017, the total number of articles is 108.
