ABSTRACT

Nail is a protective cutaneous tissue that covers the tips of the fingers and toes. Human nails are often prone to a wide range of disorders. Nail diseases cannot be ignored as a mere cosmetic problem, as they could cause severe dystrophy of the nail plate and lead to serious consequences. Considering the high prevalence of these disorders, nail formulations constitute a sizable fraction of cosmetic products. As a result there is a huge demand for technologies that can be used to treat nail disorders and to deliver drugs into the nail apparatus.
