ABSTRACT
With enhanced worldwide industrialization and concomitant demand for chemicals, society is faced with complex ecological and toxicological problems resulting from the release of toxic contaminants into the environment. In response to these expanding stresses on the environment, public awareness and government understanding have grown. Accordingly, toxicity testing for environmental protection is gaining acceptance.
