ABSTRACT

A significant proportion of vehicles are not operated continuously. During the period when the vehicles are not in use corrosion causes significant damages both in the engine space and in the equalising gears. We shall briefly describe the different corrosion phenomena taking place in the intermittently operated vehicles. The most effective protection against corrosion is the use of protective lubricants. We shall sum up the results obtained by product development, with special regard to the interaction between the lubricating and anti-corrosion additives.
