ABSTRACT
Hot tungsten filaments were first used to generate atomic hydrogen for removal of non-diamond carbon from diamond by Chauhan et al. [1976]. Matsumoto et al. [1982a] gave the first description of a process that used hot filaments during growth. Virtually all contemporary hot-filament assisted processes for diamond deposition are derived from the latter publication.
