ABSTRACT
This paper surveys some of my recent work on unstable viscoelastic flows. These results were originally reported in my papers [1,2,3]. In addition, I present in Secs. 4 and 5 some new ideas on the relationship between my theory of unstable flows and the well-known phenomenon of melt fracture in polymers.
