ABSTRACT
The purpose of this paper is to report some new estimates for deformations in terms of their nonlinear elastic strains. These estimates extend the work of F. John [1,2]; what is new about our results is that they apply to deformations with arbitrarily large strain. The details of the proofs may be found in Ref. 3, and they will be published separately.
