ABSTRACT

The purification of waters derived from groundwaters polluted by herbicides (e.g., atrazine, simazine, bentazone, etc.) can be attained in different ways, usually based on the following units:

adsorption on activated carbon [mainly granular activated carbon (GAC) for groundwater];

oxidation (mainly ozonation, alone or combined with hydrogen peroxide, UV rays or others);

membrane treatments (reverse osmosis or others).
