ABSTRACT
Making collections of objects is a universal human practice. Collections were made long before there were museums. The concept of the museum was developed from the association of objects and learning at the Temple of The Muses of ancient Alexandria. Museums have evolved from the private Renaissance cabinets of curiosities, which were open only to a few, into modern institutions with primarily educational functions that both reflect and shape human society.
