ABSTRACT

This entry provides an overview of the founding and the history of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information (AFLI). The federation’s objectives, membership, and organizational structures are discussed as well as its financing and conferences. The Arab Federation for Libraries and Information holds training and workshops in different Arab countries, publishes a newsletter “Sada al Ittihad” and publishes the proceedings of the yearly conferences in cooperation with the Association or the institution in the country where it is held. It also publishes a journal named IALAM twice a year. The Arab Federation for Libraries and Information also encourages and gives awards to the outstanding professionals in the field of library and information science.
