ABSTRACT
This entry opens by defining and outlining digital humanities as an academic enterprise and exploring the intellectual and institutional connections between digital humanities and libraries. Through an examination of the major publications on the subject, the theory and concepts of digital humanities as a field of inquiry are explored, and how those theories and concepts are possibly mapped to academic library traditional collections and services. The majority of the narrative is then dedicated to focusing on the nature of the work being done in these areas by academic libraries and librarians and the issues and challenges they encounter surfacing in that work.
